getting up close and personal with your best friend. |
 |
Pushing the boundaries of a bromance styled friendship to its intimate edge, this strikingly sensual short by Daniel Armando acutely details how getting up close and personal with your best friend, can be too close for comfort for some.

Then again, just what did shy photographer Sal expect, when he asked his roommate and hedonistic man about town, if not New York City to pose for a nude photo shoot. Only too keen to help Sal out, Jimmy is soon to be seen dropping his pants faster than Sal can adjust shutter speed. Only at what cost to their friendship?

Like Marco Berger's captivating exploration of male bonding that is Plan B, here we find writer, director and co-star Daniel Armando vividly depict the love between two best friends. Only these men are more than just emotionally close, being all too willing to engage in a threesome as a hetero means, to a homosexual end. But for who? Given the star turn lies with the stranger to the group, namely Tanya Everett who verbally cuts to the core of the relationship between the boys. Visually intercut over a narrative that mixes proclamations of heterosexuality, with lines that speak of wishing to be gay, of wanting to be the man in your life, the result is a well played work on the frustrations of falling in love with your best friend, when the man in question is just - one big flirtatious tease. Or is he?
