friends, football and coming out.
Saturday 3PM by Bernhard Pucher Taking you back to your school days, this British short walks more than familiar coming out territory; albeit with a raw honesty that is somewhat compelling.

For this is the story of Patrick and Mickey; best friends who love life as much as they love the so-called beautiful game, playing together on the same youth football team. Only when Mickey unknowingly pays a visit to a local cottage on his way back home with Patrick, in urgent need of a toilet break, he is set to discover that his best friend also plays for a different side and we all know which one.

Naturally acted throughout and backed by a script from comics and screenwriter Luke Foster, this short film has a lush Get Real feel to it, as the reality of gay blood within the ranks, once again hits the screen. And yet whilst it lacks a dramatic confrontation between the two young men, preferring instead to showcase emotions by way of silent expressions, this is far from being a negative. For in doing so, this short wonderfully demonstrates how subtle eye movements and relatively few words can say so much, as Pucher delivers the goods just the way we like. Delightful.
