a short film by Joseph Graham 2007 | 4 mins | US ›› Screen Test aka Straight Guys Kissing so when are you gonna kiss me, screen test style? From the director of Strapped came this earlier work, one whose unofficial title is sure to grab your attention. Only this is a short that is all too short, charting in its brief time frame the interplay between a photographer whose warehouse styled studio apartment plays host to a young man who clearly has other things on his mind, than that of just modelling for the man in front of him. Only whose screen test is taking place in this game of photographic seduction? Strikingly shot, if thin on plot, cinematographer Matthew Boyd’s attention to the light and shade of the piece is lovingly evident throughout. Little else remains to be said however, given the laconic nature of the narrative makes this a beautiful monochrome short, ingrained with homoerotic tension whose conclusion, if all too abrupt for my liking, provides the answer to the question of - "so when are you gonna kiss me?"
