Cue the life of wild haired dance student Eric, aka Ricky to his friends; a out and proud urban teen who is forced to act hetero when he finds himself having to spend a week on his grandfather’s farm, near Chartres; namely the Cathedrale Notre Dame historic city 96 km to the south / far west of Paris. Clearly bored by his grandfather’s rustic ways, let alone the rural lifestyle, the highlight of which is bingo night in the village hall, Ricky’s sole reason not to cut short his closeted stay is courtesy of the manly physique of resident labourer Jean-Didier. Taking refuge in sexual fantasies, farmhand style, Ricky is soon to be brought back to reality courtesy of the unexpected arrival of his boyfriend Mika and camp best friend Koko; an OTT pair who are set to bring the game of playing it straight to an abrupt end. But for who? Fans of the work of French director Pascal-Alex Vincent of Candy Boy and Give Me Your Hand fame, will no doubt delight in this earlier piece from the man himself. Then again, Vincent has clearly loved every minute of the making of this coming out tale, having transposed the countryside location to the wild west. Both scored and played that way and here cue a ranch styled dance routine delivered with glee to the stunned locals, the star turn, or rather naked award however goes to Alexis Michalik who as Jean-Didier is proud to deliver some bare-arsed cheek, Western style. Yet strip away all the comical cowboy overtones and this well-executed short showcases Julien Gauthier as Ricky and Jean Haas as Papy giving true meaning to the growing bond between different generations who having set aside what they do not have in common, come to embrace all the wonderful things in life they share.
