a joyous take on the Boy meets Boy scenario.

Dave says:

From writer, co-director and joint star of the show Thiago Cazado comes this joyous take on the Boy meets Boy scenario.

For closeted teenager Lucas (Paulo Sousa) leads a relatively solitary life with his devout Aunt Lourdes (Juliana Zancanaro) in a secluded home in the countryside; her weekly prayer meetings where he charms the congregation with his keyboard skills, his sole opportunity for company. All that however is about to change when his distant cousin Mario (Cazado) as recently released from prison, comes to stay. Leaving the boys alone together over a religious weekend, the two teens quickly bond, with Mario's wild side the polar opposite, or so it would appear, of Lucas' reserved nature. Only as covert looks give way to carnal desires of the man-on-man kind, just what's an Aunt to do when returning home from her days of spiritual contemplation, she's set to discover the two cousins in bed with each other!

Known for its homoerotic, as against sexually explicit, encounter between the boys, this is a work that finds the narrative overflowing with comical set-ups and innuendo, courtesy of Mario's delight in teasing Lucas with a series of gay one-liners, dropping them into the conversation as often as he's to be seen dropping his pants. The result is a film that's all but a fun-filled ode to romance, with the Cazado / Sousa pairing delightful in their differing roles, even if Cazado here plays a character half his age, leaving Duda Esteves as Julia to add some friction to their romantic escapades, seemingly always turning up at the wrong moment, being the crazy girl with the hots for Lucas, only to learn that his sweet music is not for her ears.

Sure, there's some negatives in the entertaining, if intentionally lightweight mix, not least of which is that the ending is somewhat contrived, whilst the lighting alternates between basic and Bel Ami styled colourization. But that said, this nonetheless makes for a vibrant feel-good movie. Upbeat, sensuously sexy and proudly gay-to-the-core; frankly, what's not to like?
