Dave says:

Strikingly photographed throughout, if somewhat surreal, this dreamlike ode to the search for companionship and love from writer and director Jordi Wijnalda focuses on the life of Lukas (Matthijs van de Sande Bakhuyzen); a likeable young man who is seemingly alone in the world.

Seeking friendship in what appears to be a never ending night, his search for somebody to connect with takes him from online porn cams with a pretty young girl (Julia Akkermans), to a cutie in the form of Kay Greidanus who plays life like he's the reincarnation of James Dean. Yet it's only when Lukas comes into contact with his middle-aged neighbour Eva (Tamar van den Dop) that he sees in her the mirror image of himself; namely someone forever in search of a friendly face in the middle of the night.

In short, this is but a striking depiction of the pursuit for love and friendship, in a world filled with loneliness and isolation. That Lukas never has sex with any of the people he meets adds to the emptiness of the encounters, to the point that you're left questioning whether or not they're actually real, or the result of one long fastasy sequence. Bakhuyzen is however excellent in the role, bringing a childlike boyish charm to his character. Yet behind the long brown hair and over-sized glasses lies a man alone in the world, even if come close-of-play you're kind of left wondering - why?
