a short film by Beth David and Esteban Bravo.

2017 | 4 mins | US.

the heartfelt message of sexual acceptance; animated style.

Dave says:

From writers and directors Beth David and Esteban Bravo comes this animated short film that is as charming, as it is a pure delight.

It tells the story of Sherwin; a shy teen who's struggling to come to terms with his sexuality in the form of his crush on Jonathan; namely the most popular boy in school. No surprise then that their paths are destined to cross, a moment in time that sees Sherwin's heart literally jump right out of his chest to chase after the boy of his dreams, forcing Sherwin to chase after his own heart before it reveals his true feelings in front of the entire school and moreover, in the direction of the object of his affection.

Produced by two graduates from Ringling College of Arts and Design who surely have a major career ahead of them, this enchanting short film took the internet by storm and yet ended up somehow being overlooked by leading film award ceremonies. An oversight or a sheer disgrace; you decide. What is clear is that and without a single word being spoken, this short speaks volumes on coming to terms with your sexuality and in particular your feelings for someone who may or may not feel the same way, about you.

Sure, it's a simple tale and yet it's beautifully told, with facial expressions wonderfully showcasing the emotions of the heart, as in Pixar styled quality Beth David and Esteban Bravo deliver their heartfelt message of sexual acceptance is such an engaging way, that it's impossible not to be seduced by its sweet, seductive charm. Simply wondrous.
