Dave says: Reworking the ever popular theme of "falling in love with your straight best friend" to that of "falling in love with your newly found roommate" this wondrous short film from writer and director Camila Souto has a lush raw edge to it, that wonderfully compliments the narrative. It tells the story of new-found roommates Bruno (Santiago Musetti) and Felipe (Gabriel Manfrú), both straight to the world, only for Felipe to become increasingly aware of his sexual attraction to Bruno; feelings that he was not expecting, nor prepared for. Throwing a flat-warming party to celebrate moving into his new home, Felipe can only but look on with jealous eyes as Bruno gets ever closer to Agustina (Vanessa Cánepa); the girl he works with at the local film-for-hire store. Only does he have cause for such a green-eyed emotion? In short, this is but a captivating exploration of male friendship and sexuality, if not voyeurism itself, as we see Felipe seemingly take every opportunity that presents itself to see Bruno naked, scenes that culminate in acts of man-sex that whilst far from explicit, are certainly gay-to-the-core. Then again, perhaps this should be of no surprise, given here we find Souto delight in playing with the question of whether Felipe's feelings for Bruno are unrequited, resulting in an emotional tension between the two that plays out into the sensuous finale. Well-executed throughout, this is one of those short films that sadly is all but over before you know it and frankly, you wish it wasn't.
