Dave says: Gloriously upbeat from start to finish, this comical take on to thy ownself, being true - whatever that sexual truth be, focuses on the life of Zach (Miles Tagtmeyer); a young man whose night of passion with his girlfriend Amy (Rebecca Goldstein) doesn't quite go to plan when he finds that he, how you say - can't rise to the occasion. It's a situation that makes her question whether Zach could be gay, prompting the man himself to turn to his gay best friend Kyle (Matt Jennings) and in turn his friends OTT-Drew (Aaron Jung) and out 'n' proud lesbian Sandy (Victoria Mele), so as to set the record - straight, as-it-were. Written and directed by Matt Chupack and overflowing with a series of gay stereotypes, from bears, to twinks, to the requisite drag-queen, frankly this short film has a lot going for it, as we see Zach's life turned upside down, as he's literally thrown into the deep end of all things queer. Only is he truly gay? For that's the question that dominates throughout, one that sees Zach not afraid to push his sexual envelope to find out, dressed for the part and going down to his local Church aka gay club to get up close and personal with the priest; confessional style. Nicely filmed throughout, with the cast and where the character fits, clearly delighting in camping it up big time, this short nevertheless finds Tagtmeyer playing Zach sexual ambiguous in style, not quite sure yet on which side of the sexual divide he lies. But does that matter, when the spotlight here is to illustrate the various shades of the sexual rainbow and how each has its own beauty and pride. Above all however, this wondrous short makes the point of questioning - is it ever that easy to be gay?
