the longing for sexual intimacy within the disabled community.

Official Synopsis:

A daring portrait of a disabled man yearning for intimacy in a world that would rather ignore him.

Dave says:

Most films are made to entertain you, whilst some are boldly made to showcase a side of life that society would rather not think about. And this is one such short film, shining its spotlight on the longing for sexual intimacy within the disabled community.

For Billy (Ken Harrower) is one such man; disabled in both face and body, perhaps by way of a heart attack that happens alarmingly all too often in these stressed out days. Yet he's also a man with a-liking for classical music, has an easy rapport with his carer Craig (Sebastian Deery) and is eager to work for his living in a department store stacking shelves. Yet he's also a man with sexual desires that see him head out into the night to satisfy them; glory hole fashion. Only such holes are not exactly wheelchair friendly...

Strikingly shot throughout, here your heart goes out to Billy who can only but look on at the loving couples he sees everyday, knowing that such a relationship is almost certain never to come his way. For that's what writer and director Martin Edralin has poignantly captured, namely the life of a man who views the world from the outside, forever looking in. Harrower is excellent in the role of a man determined not to let his disability get in the way of his life and his sexual desires too. Indeed as a message-in-a-bottle piece, this powerful short says a lot about the inherent need for human contact, friendship and love and that is something we can all relate to.
