a short film by Jean-Baptiste Becq.

2011 | 9 mins | France.

a homoerotic take on two men; one pool.

starring: Lucas Struna, Enrique Blain and with Diane Lefebure.

Official Synopsis:

One pool. The water. The sun. Two boys.

Dave says:

To be frank, there's nothing overtly gay here; no scenes of same-sex lip-service and certainly not anything of the man-on-man variety. And yet there's equally no denying that writer and director Jean-Baptiste Becq knows his target audience, given this short simmers with homoeroticism, with Becq all too happy to let his camera linger on muscular torsos in the shower, soaped up, getting clean, let alone eye the crotch fitting swimwear of his man-candy.

With no dialogue and the camera acting more as an observer, what is of note here is the cinematography itself, with DOP Jérémie Pouchard having deliberately broken with tradition in photographing the underwater sequences in a series of unconventional angles. And whilst come close of play you may well be yearning for one of the boys to have made the first move, at the end of the day it's really up to you to decide whether at their local swimming pool on a hot summer day, it was by chance or design that these two men forever appeared to be in each other's company? Well shot and played, as ever check it out and see what you think.
