Official Synopsis:

New Year's Eve 1999 finds college-bound Clark and Trevor concerned about the future of their friendship. Yet a request for Clark to be Trevor's wingman ensures that things will never be the same between them again.

Dave says:

To be frank, there's nothing really remarkable about this short film. But that said, and given the sheer number of film festivals that it's played, over sixty as-of-writing, there's no denying that this is anything but a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. And you can soon see why, given Daniel Rashid wonderfully conveys the sensitive feelings of gay boy Clark who clearly is in love with his best friend Trevor, only to be instead asked by the object of his affection to help him out in his pursuit of the lovely Sarah. That it's his lips that he yearns were being kissed by Trevor is all but obvious, yet come close of play could it be that Clark's the one who's in for a big surprise?

And no prizes for guessing the answer to that, as here we find screenwriter Joshua Paul Johnson play to every cliché of the somewhat overused "falling in love with your best friend" scenario. Yet it's the natural camaraderie between the stars of the show that shines from start to finish, with Clark clearly terrified of revealing his true feelings to Trevor, yet equally knowing that as college life is soon to tear them apart, this is probably his last chance to do so, only to find party girl Sarah complicating matters.

With solid production values throughout, this University of Southern California piece has a lot going for it, complete with longing looks and the seemingly requisite swimming pool scene. Yet it's Rashid who holds this work together, wonderfully expressing the emotions of a youth yearning for his first kiss with the man he loves. As ever, check it out and see what you think.
